Black Vulture (Coragyps atratus) is a bird in the New World vulture family whose range extends from the southeastern United States to Central Chile and Uruguay in South America. In areas populated by humans, it may scavenge at garbage dumps, but also takes eggs and decomposing plant material and can kill or injure newborn or incapacitated mammals. Like other vultures, it plays an important role in the ecosystem by disposing of carrion which would otherwise be a breeding ground for disease / At the Mercado de Mariscos Cinta Costera (seafood market) you can catch sight of the traditional fishing boats contrasted against the modern city and I knew I had the opportunity to take photograph of the myriad vessels, some floating and others aground because of the low tide, and of the birds taking the opportunity to get an easy meal from then “low hanging fruit” in the sand / New Year’s Day meandering Panama City; the calendar does not stop the photographer from capturing the myriad sights on the last day of a trip with no plan or schedule.Great Egret (Ardea alba) is a large, widely distributed egret, with four subspecies found in Asia, Africa, the Americas, and southern Europe, which differ little. Differences are bare-part coloration in the breeding season and size. In the America it is classified as Ardea alba egretta. Mwajuma answers questions

Mwajuma was orphaned from a young age and lives with her grandmother and 13 siblings. She knows from experience what it’s like to go hungry and is often forced to skip meals.
She’s a passionate young campaigner for Save the Children and a journalist – determined to speak up for those who suffer from malnutrition and determined to work hard so that in the future her family doesn’t have to suffer.
