I’m not sure what the daily calorie count is for these two diets. But, it is obvious they were starving the prisoners, with the Bantus getting even less with further restricted high-calorie foods. Puzamandla was supposed to be a high-energy drink, but according to Sparks it wasn’t.
Black South Africans were at times officially called "Bantus" by the apartheid regime.

Obviously, Nelson Rohihlahla Mandela is one of if not the most famous prisoner that was kept on Robben Island. Every time Sparks mentioned Mandela, he used his full Nelson Rohihlahla Mandela name. While at the prison, Mandela performed hard labour in a lime quarry. I can’t imagine eating this diet and performing manual labor 365 days a year.
