Soba at Owariya, a restaurant that is 540 years old, Kyoto

I thought the soba was delicious, but probably not worth the price if not for the fact that this was the oldest restaurant in Japan and they used to serve soba to the royal family.

365 Project – Day 270
When in doubt shoot food. Today we returned from our weekend break in London, picked up the kids and resumed the normal family life. That meant for once less photography time and Mona being allowed to chose her dinner. She went for daddy’s Spaghetti Carbonara which I used as an exercise to work on my ghetto lightning skills: Today’s shot is lit purely by artificial light – a single of camera speedlite and an improvised bounce card to the right. And just to make sure: There are no tomatoes in Spaghetti Carbonara, I just liked the little dash of color.
