My 8 yr old Grand-Daughter just loves to cook. I bought her this cookbook (as well as an apron!) for Christmas. Already she has prepared supper for us twice! Such a cute cookbook for kids and its from Better Homes and Gardens test kitchen!

My brother Dave illustrated this book, so I’m biased there… but I’ve been waiting for it to come out so that I could get a copy and see his work. Not only are his illustrations amazing but they are fun.

We used to have a cookbook similar to this when we were kids. It had the best cookie recipe ever and we used it whenever my Mom wasn’t feeling like baking.

Looking through the recipes in this one really confirms that the editor was on the right track for kids and parents who wish to share the experience of cooking together in the kitchen. What strikes me as valuable in this regard is that the kids will actually enjoy the food once they are finished and the parents won’t find just another book with the same old fare. It’s fresh, colorful and the hardback cover makes it very durable… an important factor with little ones.

Dave is the original illustrator behind Mozilla, the Netscape mascot green dragon that was popular in the early 90’s. I have a feeling we’re looking at a possible collector’s item once enough years go by. Enjoy!
