I have been cooking for several years and have an extensive cookbook collection (including two large Betty Crocker books), but when I bought this on a whim, I had no idea how good it would be. It has recipes that I don’t have anywhere else, cheese balls, fudge, buttermilk fried chicken…the list just goes on and on. Every recipe I have made so far is delicious! It literally tastes like food from a restaurant, and it is so easy. Here are the sections:

    Kitchen Basics

    Appetizers & Beverages

    Soups & Sandwiches

    Beef & Veal

    Pork

    Lamb

    Poultry

    Seafood

    Grilling

    Eggs & Cheese

    Beans & Grains

    Pasta & Pasta Sauce

    Vegetables

    Fruit

    Salads & Salad Dressings

    Sauces & Condiments

    Quick Breads

    Yeast Breads

    Pies & Tarts

    Cakes

    Desserts

    Cookies & Bars

    Candies

    Light & Tasty

By far the best cookbook I have ever seen. I was so impressed by this, I recommend it to all my friends. This book is good for both the beginner and experienced chef!

I was surprised to see the negative review here. I have always been a huge fan of Taste of Home recipes. I get the magazine, buy the booklets in the grocery store line, and have made countless recipes from their website. This cookbook is no exception. There are tons of tips, each category has an alphabetized index, and color photos of each recipe, just like we would expect. I think the only thing I was disappointed with was that to save page space, many of the recipes are split up, the first part on one page, the rest on the next. Otherwise, I’ve already made a couple of the recipes from this book and each one has been great. I think out of the hundreds of TOH recipes I have tried, I have only tossed two.

I love this cookbook! It has a WEALTH of cooking information, such as cuts of meats, what temperatures to cook them and how to cook them. Even has food equivalents, kitchen basics like weight and measure equivalents, measuring techniques, kitchen cutlery, ingredient substitutions, chopping techniques, cookware, bakeware, food safety, table setting, lightening recipes, menu-planning, storage guidelines, herbs and spices, alphabetical index, and it has a glossary with terms. It also has four different ways of preparing the same type recipe! Very helpful aid in teaching your children to cook! VERY PLEASED!

I bought this cookbook on a whim at a local Taste of Home cooking show and paid $25 for it. I have spent the past several days going through it from cover to cover. I tried my first recipe from it last night(Pesto Pork Roast), and it was wonderful and simple. I have several more recipes lined up to try asap.

I do not understand the negative review. I collect recipe books and I don’t have anything that compares to this one. Recipes that one would think too difficult to even try, are made simple in Taste of Home. Plus, in the book I bought at the show there is a free 1 yr subscription to the magazine, which is a $23.95 value. I’m ordering several through Amazon. It would be a great wedding gift because of all of the handy, basic tips and instructions. The Taste of Home Cookbook- New Revised: One Recipe four ways

I’d been on the hunt for the perfect cookbook for a while, only to disappointed time and again. The Taste of Home Cookbook: One Recipe Four Ways is an instant favorite. It’s loaded with great recipes and tips! You can use this book every day of the year and still have recipes you’d love to try. I was brought up in a country kitchen, helping my mom make apple pies and roast chicken Sunday dinners, so the “One Recipe Four Ways” feature is perfect for me. The “Serves 2 Recipes” allow me to cook those great home-style meals for me and my husband without fear of overeating or wasting food. If you’re trying to decide between this book and another, this is definitely the one to get.

Big plus, the book included a free year long subscription to Taste of Home magazine ($24 value)!
